Created under the supervision of TRADMAN’S BONSAI, the Seiko Presage TRADMAN’S BONSAI Limited Edition explores one of Japan’s most respected traditional art forms through a contemporary mechanical timepiece. The collaboration combines Seiko Presage’s appreciation for Japanese craftsmanship with TRADMAN’S BONSAI’s modern approach to bonsai culture. The result is a watch built around texture, colour and the passage of time.

The Seiko Presage collaboration reflects this philosophy through a watch inspired by the serene image of a Japanese black pine bonsai illuminated by moonlight.

Inspired By A Pine Tree Under Moonlight

The design is based on the quiet beauty of an aged Japanese black pine bonsai. The tree’s rugged character and textured surface are translated into an original dial pattern that gives the watch a strong tactile identity.

The dial is finished in matsuba-iro, a traditional Japanese colour inspired by the green of pine needles. Historically associated with good fortune, this deep pine-needle green gives the watch a calm and refined appearance.

Gold-tone accents on the case and bracelet represent the glow of moonlight falling across the bonsai. The contrast between the green dial and warm metallic surfaces creates an elegant composition that remains distinctive without becoming excessive.

The dial’s embossed texture is one of the defining elements of the watch. Inspired by the bark of an ageing pine tree, the pattern adds depth and irregularity beneath the dual-curved sapphire crystal.

Classic Series Proportions

The watch is based on the Seiko Presage Classic Series and measures 38mm in diameter. With a thickness of 12.9mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 43.8mm, the case offers balanced proportions for everyday wear.

The gold-tone case is paired with a matching bracelet, creating a consistent visual connection between the dial, case and strap. The bracelet is finished with a deployment clasp featuring a push-button release.

A dual-curved sapphire crystal protects the dial, while an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface helps preserve visibility in changing light conditions.

The watch is water resistant to 10 bar, equivalent to 100 metres, and includes magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m.

A Second Strap With Traditional Symbolism

The limited edition is supplied with an additional calf-leather strap, giving the owner a choice between the gold-tone bracelet and a more traditional leather configuration.

The underside of the additional strap features an embossed sanko-matsu pine-needle motif. The three-pronged pine pattern is traditionally regarded as a symbol of good fortune, adding another layer of meaning to the collaboration.

This detail remains mostly hidden during wear, but it reinforces the relationship between the watch and the cultural symbolism of bonsai.

Seiko Calibre 6R51

Inside the watch is Seiko’s automatic Calibre 6R51. The movement can be wound automatically through the movement of the wearer’s wrist or manually using the crown.

It offers approximately 72 hours of power reserve, equivalent to three days, allowing the watch to continue running through a weekend even when it is not worn.

The movement contains 24 jewels and has a stated accuracy of between +25 and -15 seconds per day. A stop-seconds function allows the wearer to stop the seconds hand when setting the time.

The movement can be viewed through the see-through case back, which also features the words LIMITED EDITION and an individual serial number

Presentation And Exclusivity

The Seiko Presage Classic Series TRADMAN’S BONSAI Limited Edition is restricted to 2,000 pieces worldwide.

Each watch is individually identified by a serial number engraved on the case back. The case back also carries the limited-edition marking, confirming the watch’s place within the production run.

A special presentation box has been created exclusively for the model, and an original watch cloth is included with the set.

Together, the presentation box, additional strap and dedicated engravings give the watch a more complete collector-oriented character.

The Seiko Presage Classic Series TRADMAN’S BONSAI Limited Edition is limited to 2,000 pieces worldwide and is scheduled for release in September 2026.
