A. Lange & Söhne Introduces The Datograph Perpetual In Platinum
The 50-piece limited edition combines a flyback chronograph and perpetual calendar with a black diamond-set dial and an integrated platinum bracelet.
The A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual marks the 20th anniversary of the original model with a new version crafted in 950 platinum. Limited to just 50 individually numbered watches, this edition combines two demanding complications in traditional watchmaking: a flyback chronograph and a perpetual calendar with the manufacture’s characteristic outsize date.
The new model retains the distinctive Datograph display layout while introducing a black dial, eleven baguette-cut diamond hour markers and an integrated five-row platinum bracelet. It is an exclusive interpretation of a watch first introduced in 2006, when the Datograph Perpetual became the first A. Lange & Söhne wristwatch to unite a chronograph and perpetual calendar with an outsize date.

A Black Dial With Diamond Accents
The black dial is made from 925 silver and features rhodié-coloured auxiliary dials. Eleven baguette-cut diamonds, with a combined weight of approximately 0.13 carats, serve as hour markers. Each diamond is applied by hand, with two stones marking the 12 o’clock position.
The hour markers at 4 and 8 o’clock have been omitted to create space for the lower-positioned auxiliary dials. This arrangement preserves the model’s characteristic display architecture, with the outsize date at 12 o’clock forming the apex of an imaginary triangle.
The subsidiary displays are arranged below the dial’s horizontal centre line. At 9 o’clock, the watch indicates the small seconds, day of the week and day/night information. At 3 o’clock, the displays show the month and leap year alongside the chronograph’s precisely jumping minute counter. The moon-phase display completes the composition at 6 o’clock.

Two Complications Working In Harmony
At the heart of the Datograph Perpetual is the combination of a flyback chronograph and a perpetual calendar. The chronograph uses a classic column wheel to coordinate its switching sequences, while its precisely jumping minute counter provides clear readings of elapsed time. The flyback function allows an ongoing measurement to be stopped and restarted with a single pusher operation.
The perpetual calendar automatically accounts for the different lengths of months and leap years, displaying the date, day of the week and month. However, under the Gregorian calendar, the year 2100 is not a leap year. The calendar will therefore require a one-day correction on 1 March 2100.
The moon-phase display is designed for long-term precision, deviating from a true lunar cycle by just one day after 122.6 years, provided the watch runs continuously.
For ease of use, a rapid-correction pusher at 10 o’clock advances all calendar indications and the moon-phase display together. Individual recessed correctors allow the displays to be adjusted separately, while a safety mechanism helps prevent accidental activation of the rapid corrector.

A Platinum Case And Integrated Bracelet
The case measures 41mm in diameter and 13.5mm in height, and is crafted from 950 platinum. The same precious metal is used for the integrated five-row bracelet, whose alternating polished and matte surfaces highlight the material’s density and finish. A quick-release deployant buckle completes the construction.
The sapphire-crystal caseback offers a view of the movement and its chronograph mechanism, including the column wheel and the various levers responsible for controlling its functions.

The Hand-Wound L952.1 Calibre
The watch is powered by the manually wound L952.1 manufacture calibre, comprising 556 individual components, including 223 dedicated to the calendar mechanism. The movement is decorated and assembled by hand and adjusted in five positions.
Its construction includes untreated German silver plates and bridges, a balance cock engraved by hand and a balance spring manufactured in-house. Operating at 18,000 semi-oscillations per hour, the movement offers a power reserve of 36 hours when fully wound.
The Datograph Perpetual in platinum, reference 410.136E, is limited to 50 watches, each individually numbered. A. Lange & Söhne has not specified a retail price in the supplied press release.
