NOMOS Glashütte Gives Its Worldtimer a Financial Twist with the Edition Handelsblatt

A new interpretation combining worldtime functionality with the visual language of global financial markets.

The NOMOS Club Sport Worldtimer Handelsblatt is a special edition created to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Handelsblatt, one of Germany’s leading business newspapers.

Rather than simply adding a co-branded logo to an existing model, NOMOS has adapted one of the most recognisable elements of the Worldtimer: its city ring. Five of the 24 city codes have been replaced by the abbreviations of major stock exchanges, turning the watch into a subtle tribute to the global markets that Handelsblatt has followed for decades.

Five Stock Exchanges Replace Five Cities

The concept is immediately visible around the dial. NYSE, LSE, FWB, HKEX and TSE represent New York, London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Tokyo respectively, highlighting five of the world’s major financial centres. The abbreviations are printed in Handelsblatt’s signature warm orange, creating a striking contrast against the silver dial.

The orange theme continues throughout the design. The 24-hour home-time display uses a distinctive six-digit arrangement, while the fine line separating day from night references the visual language of a newspaper layout. An orange indicator above 12 o’clock identifies the currently selected time zone, complemented by an orange scale around the edge of the dial for calculating time differences.

In the dark, the watch takes on a different character. The hour numerals, indexes and hands are treated with Super-LumiNova, providing a blue glow and maintaining legibility across different environments.

A Worldtimer Built for Travel

The Edition Handelsblatt retains the sporty architecture of the Club Sport collection, with a three-part stainless-steel case measuring 40 mm in diameter, 48 mm lug-to-lug and just 9.9 mm thick. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the dial, while a sapphire crystal case back provides a view of the movement.

Water resistance is rated at 10 ATM, making the watch suitable for considerably more than life in an office or trading floor. A red warning ring around the crown provides a practical visual indication: when the crown is fully screwed down, the specified water resistance is guaranteed. The main time zone can also be adjusted using the pusher at 2 o’clock.

The watch is fitted with the Club Sport stainless-steel bracelet, featuring alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces. Quick-change spring bars make the bracelet easier to remove, while its length can be individually adjusted to the wearer’s wrist.

NOMOS DUW 3202

At the heart of the watch is the DUW 3202, an in-house automatic calibre developed by NOMOS Glashütte specifically for worldtime functionality. Its architecture integrates the worldtime complication directly into the gear train, allowing the movement to remain only 4.8 mm thick.

The calibre measures 31 mm in diameter, contains 37 jewels and provides a power reserve of up to 42 hours. A globe in gold decorates the rotor, while a separate 24-hour display indicates a second time zone using a single hand.

This compact movement is one of the reasons the Edition Handelsblatt manages to combine a fully integrated worldtime complication with a remarkably slim 9.9 mm case.

A Watch for Those Who Follow the Markets

The collaboration is particularly well matched to the character of the Worldtimer. Handelsblatt has followed financial and economic developments in Germany and around the world for 80 years, and the new watch translates that identity into something functional rather than purely decorative.

The special engraving “Edition Handelsblatt” appears on the case back alongside the individual serial number, while the crown carries the newspaper’s “H” logo.

The model is available under reference 792.S1 and is priced at €4,260 including VAT. It is offered through NOMOS Glashütte, although the official online store currently lists the model as sold out online.

With its combination of a sophisticated worldtime complication, an unusually slim profile and a design rooted in the language of global finance, the Club Sport neomatik Worldtimer – Edition Handelsblatt manages to make a highly specific collaboration feel remarkably natural.
