Spinnaker and IFL Watches have joined forces for the Spence 300 Automatic IFLW Manta Edition, a limited-edition dive watch inspired by one of the ocean’s most captivating creatures. Named “Underwater Dancers”, the collaboration transforms the dial into an underwater scene depicting two manta rays gliding through deep blue water as sunlight filters down from the surface.

Limited to 100 pieces, the Spinnaker Spence 300 IFLW Manta Edition combines IFL Watches’ artistic approach with the established dive-watch credentials of Spinnaker’s Spence 300 platform. The result is a watch where the dial becomes the central storytelling element, while the underlying construction remains focused on practical performance.

Underwater Dancers

The artwork was created around the elegance and movement of manta rays. Two mantas appear to glide through deep blue water, surrounded by beams of sunlight descending from above, while warm coral tones rise from the ocean floor to create contrast against the predominantly blue environment.

For divers, encountering a manta ray can be an unforgettable experience, often described as something closer to witnessing flight underwater than simply swimming alongside an animal. That sense of effortless movement became the central inspiration behind the collaboration.

The project also draws attention to manta ray conservation. According to the press material, manta rays are currently classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, with habitat degradation, bycatch and targeted fishing among the threats affecting these remarkable animals. The collaboration therefore connects the artistic character of the watch with a broader appreciation for marine life.

Art Meets Dive-Watch Construction

The Spence 300 platform provides a capable foundation for the collaboration. The stainless-steel case measures 40mm in diameter and is paired with a sapphire crystal featuring anti-reflective coating.

The watch is rated to 300 metres of water resistance and features a screw-down crown, screw-back construction, luminous detailing and a unidirectional turning bezel. These elements retain the functional identity expected from a purpose-built dive watch, even as the hand-painted dial gives the model a distinctly artistic character.

The combination is particularly effective because neither side completely dominates the design. The artistic dial provides the visual identity, while the technical case and dive-watch specifications keep the watch grounded in Spinnaker’s established tool-watch philosophy.

Japanese Automatic Movement

Inside the Spence 300 Automatic IFLW Manta Edition is a Japanese automatic movement. The press material identifies the calibre as M-MIY-9039, providing the mechanical foundation for the watch.

The movement is housed within the 40mm stainless-steel case, while the sapphire crystal protects the dial and provides the clarity required for an underwater instrument. The specification sheet also lists 11.5mm as the case thickness and 20mm as the bracelet width.

The overall configuration is therefore relatively compact for a 300-metre dive watch, allowing the artistic dial to remain the dominant visual feature without turning the watch into an overly imposing instrument.

The partnership brings together two brands with a shared connection to the sea. Spinnaker has built its identity around dive watches inspired by underwater exploration, while IFL Watches approaches watches as canvases for hand-painted artistic expression.

Two Production Batches

The Spinnaker Spence 300 Automatic IFLW Manta Edition launches on 18 September 2026 as a production of 100 pieces. A second batch will subsequently be offered through pre-order beginning on 21 September 2026.

Unlike the first production run, the second batch will be made to order and will only proceed if pre-orders reach a minimum of 100 pieces. For orders that proceed, delivery is scheduled for May 2027.

With its combination of hand-painted artwork, 300-metre water resistance and mechanical movement, the Manta Edition offers a different interpretation of the modern dive watch — one in which the ocean is not simply the environment the watch is designed to explore, but the inspiration displayed directly on its dial.
