Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph Celebrates 145 Years of Innovation
A limited-edition Seiko Astron with GPS Solar technology, dual-time chronograph functionality, and Seiko Blue-inspired details.
Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph HAB004, a new limited edition to celebrate the brand’s 145th anniversary. Combining advanced GPS Solar technology, lightweight titanium construction, and a new Calibre 5X63 movement, the latest Seiko Astron release continues the brand’s long tradition of innovation while introducing a refined new design inspired by the iconic Seiko Blue color signature.

Originally founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori in Tokyo’s Ginza district, Seiko became one of the most important names in modern watchmaking through groundbreaking developments such as Japan’s first wristwatch, the country’s first chronograph, and the world’s first quartz wristwatch, the Quartz Astron introduced in 1969.
A New Seiko Astron GPS Solar Movement
At the heart of the new Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph is the new Calibre 5X63.
First introduced in 2012, the Astron GPS Solar revolutionized electronic watchmaking by combining GPS-controlled timekeeping with solar-powered autonomy. The watch connects to GPS satellites and automatically adjusts to all global time zones with the push of a button.
The new Calibre 5X63 expands those capabilities by integrating a dual-time display and a chronograph capable of measuring up to 24 hours in precise 1/20-second increments.
The movement also includes a perpetual calendar programmed until the year 2100, automatic daylight saving time adjustment, world time across 38 time zones, GPS signal reception indication, time transfer functionality, and Seiko’s energy-saving mode. Accuracy is rated at ±15 seconds per month when GPS reception is inactive.
A Dial Inspired by Seiko Blue
The limited-edition Seiko Astron GPS Solar Chronograph celebrates the anniversary with blue details inspired by the legendary Seiko Blue tone developed by the brand over decades.

The main dial features a bright silver finish contrasted by deep blue sub-dials and a blue seconds track, creating a clean and highly technical appearance. Thanks to the architecture of the new Calibre 5X63, the sub-dials are arranged horizontally and symmetrically, improving balance and legibility.
A geometric triangular texture beneath the dial adds additional depth while reinforcing the futuristic aesthetic of the Astron collection.
Improved Wearability
The new Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph retains the signature Astron case design with its sharp multifaceted profile and integrated sporty appearance.
The case measures 43.4 mm in diameter and 12.4 mm in thickness while using lightweight titanium with a super-hard coating for improved durability.
A newly developed octagonal titanium bezel enhances the modern design while lowering the center of gravity for improved comfort on the wrist. The brushed surfaces of the bezel contrast elegantly with polished details across the case, creating a more refined and premium visual effect.

The watch also introduces a new quick-release strap system that allows the wearer to easily switch between the titanium bracelet and silicone strap without tools.
Exclusive Silicone Strap for the Limited Edition
The 145th Anniversary limited edition includes a special blue-and-white reinforced silicone strap inspired by the dial colors.
Designed for active everyday use, the reinforced silicone construction offers enhanced durability while maintaining comfort and flexibility. The quick-release mechanism allows the strap to be changed instantly by pressing a button integrated into the case construction.
Three Additional Seiko Astron Models
Alongside the anniversary edition, Seiko also introduces three additional regular-production Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph models using the same Calibre 5X63 movement and external architecture.
The collection includes:
- A blue-gray dial version (HAB001)
- A black dial version (HAB002)
- A black-and-gold version paired with a black silicone strap (HAB003)

Additional white and black silicone straps compatible with recent Astron Dual-Time Chronograph models will also become available separately.
