Formex AirField Brings Aviation Into The Field
A hardened titanium case, cockpit-inspired dial and 65-hour Power+ movement turn the Field platform into a contemporary aviation watch built around clarity and comfort.
Formex AirField, a new aviation-focused expression of Formex Field collection. Rather than recreating a traditional pilot watch, the brand takes the lightweight and rugged architecture of the Field and reshapes its visual language around the clarity of aviation instruments.
The connection between field and pilot watches is not entirely unexpected. Both categories developed around practical requirements such as robustness, immediate legibility and functional simplicity. The AirField brings these shared principles together through a contemporary 40mm titanium case, a highly structured dial and details inspired by cockpit instrumentation.

Cockpit Clarity
The most significant transformation takes place on the dial. Broad sword-shaped hour and minute hands provide a strong visual presence, while recessed Arabic numerals and hour markers are individually filled with Super-LumiNova® Grade A. At 12 o’clock, the familiar triangle flanked by two dots creates an immediate orientation point, allowing the wearer to identify the top of the dial at a glance.
A long, slender seconds hand adds another aviation reference through its aircraft-shaped counterweight. The dial itself uses a finely grained surface created through a stamping process, giving it an instrument-like texture. Around the perimeter, a sloped chapter ring rises towards the sapphire crystal, creating additional depth without adding unnecessary visual complexity.
At 6 o’clock, Formex’s characteristic bevelled date window is angled to improve visibility from different viewing positions. The date disc is colour-matched to each dial, helping maintain the clean, integrated appearance across the collection.

Four Environments, Four Colours
The AirField is offered in four dial colours: Desert Sand, Horizon Blue, Jet Black and Tarmac Grey. Each gives the same architecture a different character, while retaining the defining aviation elements.

Desert Sand takes a warmer, utilitarian direction, with blacked-out Super-LumiNova® and a red tip on the seconds hand. Horizon Blue introduces a cooler interpretation, while Jet Black offers the most understated version of the collection. Tarmac Grey completes the range with a tone that naturally recalls the surfaces of an airport runway.
The different colours are more than a simple cosmetic variation. Each dial uses matching Super-LumiNova® and a corresponding date disc, allowing the individual versions to maintain a cohesive visual identity.

Hardened Titanium At 54 Grams
The AirField retains the lightweight 40mm titanium construction that defines the Field platform. The Grade 2 titanium case is specially hardened to approximately 900 Vickers, increasing resistance to everyday wear while maintaining the low weight associated with titanium.
The watch head weighs just 54 grams, while the case measures 40mm in diameter, 10.6mm in height and 46.6mm from lug to lug. A screw-down crown and 150 metres of water resistance reinforce the practical character of the watch, taking it well beyond the requirements of a cockpit instrument.
The solid titanium case back continues the aviation theme with a depiction of a classic radial aircraft engine and propeller, connecting the watch to an earlier era in which aviation, engineering and mechanical instruments were closely intertwined.

More Power For Everyday Wear
Inside the AirField is the Swiss Made Sellita SW200-2 Power+, an updated automatic movement that increases the power reserve from the conventional 41 hours of the base movement to 65 hours.
The movement operates at 4Hz and contains 26 jewels, with a date display and automatic winding. The additional autonomy is particularly useful for an everyday watch: the AirField can be left unworn for more than two days and picked up again without immediately requiring a reset.
It is a technical improvement that fits naturally with the watch’s purpose, turning an increase in power reserve into a practical benefit rather than simply another specification.

Built To Adapt
Formex offers the AirField with two different strap configurations. The lightweight nylon straps use an elastic, water-resistant construction with Velcro closure and are available in several colours, making them particularly suited to travel and outdoor use.

For a more refined interpretation, the AirField can be paired with Italian calf-leather straps and Formex’s carbon-fibre composite deployant clasp. The clasp incorporates a patented gradual 7mm fine-adjustment system, allowing the fit to be adjusted throughout the day without changing strap holes.
Both configurations can be changed using the Quick Release system without tools, reinforcing the adaptable character of the AirField.

Field-Ready, Sky-Bound
The Formex AirField sits deliberately between the field and pilot-watch categories. It retains the rugged construction, lightweight case and everyday practicality of the Field collection while introducing an aviation-inspired dial designed around orientation and immediate legibility.
With four dial colours, a hardened titanium case, 150-metre water resistance and the new 65-hour SW200-2 Power+ movement, the AirField translates the principles of aviation instrumentation into a modern watch designed to move well beyond the cockpit.
