Venezianico Redentore Levius Turns Lightness Into Italian Watchmaking

A 38mm Grade 5 titanium case, hand-engraved guilloché dial and Italian-made V5000 calibre define a new chapter for the Redentore collection.

Venezianico introduces a new interpretation of the Redentore built around an idea that sounds simple but is surprisingly difficult to execute: lightness. The Venezianico Redentore Levius combines a Grade 5 titanium case weighing just 12.9 grams on its own with a hand-wound mechanical movement and a fully engraved guilloché dial, creating a watch that places comfort and traditional craftsmanship at the centre of its design.

The result weighs just 48 grams with its strap. At 38mm in diameter and 8.9mm thick, the Levius retains the restrained proportions and neoclassical character associated with the Redentore collection while introducing a more technically focused construction. The first edition is limited to 100 individually numbered pieces, marking the beginning of this new chapter for the collection.

The Geometry Of Wind

The defining feature of the dial is the new Zefiro guilloché pattern, created by artisan Linda Renzetti. Its flowing lines radiate from the centre in an organic, irregular rhythm inspired by the movement of air.

The name Zefiro refers to the West Wind of ancient mythology, and the pattern translates that idea into a physical surface. Rather than attempting to reproduce wind literally, the engraving interprets its movement through lines that seem to flow continuously across the dial.

For the Redentore Levius, the guilloché is developed as a fully engraved surface. There are no contrasting polished areas interrupting the pattern, allowing the texture to remain continuous while the changing reflections create depth and movement.

Each dial is engraved using a traditional 19th-century rose engine, with the process relying on the artisan’s control of pressure, rhythm and movement. The result is a dial in which the decorative pattern is not simply applied to the surface but physically created within the metal itself.

A Dial Designed Around Light

The complexity of the Zefiro pattern creates an obvious challenge: maintaining legibility while covering the dial with constantly changing reflections. Venezianico addresses this through the hands, which combine polished and sandblasted surfaces.

The dual finish creates contrast against the guilloché, allowing the hands to remain clearly visible under different lighting conditions. It is a small detail, but an important one on a watch where the dial itself is designed to interact continuously with light.

The combination of the titanium case and engraved dial also creates an interesting contrast between technical lightness and traditional decoration. The case is contemporary and lightweight, while the dial is produced using a centuries-old decorative technique.

Grade 5 Titanium At 48 Grams

The case is made from Grade 5 titanium, selected for its combination of low weight, strength and resistance. The material is particularly challenging to polish, which makes the Levius’ combination of brushed surfaces and polished bevels an important part of its visual identity.

The case measures 38mm in diameter, 44.2mm from lug to lug and just 8.9mm thick. According to Venezianico, the complete watch weighs 48 grams without compromising the solid construction expected from a mechanical timepiece.

The sapphire crystal receives an anti-reflective coating, while the exhibition caseback is secured by six screws and provides a view of the movement. Water resistance is rated at 30 metres.

The V5000: Italian Mechanical Watchmaking

Inside the Levius is the V5000, Venezianico’s first proprietary mechanical movement, designed and manufactured in Italy. The calibre was developed by Venezianico’s technical team, with manufacturing carried out by OISA.

The manually wound movement measures just 3.5mm in profile and provides a 60-hour power reserve. It operates at 25,200 vibrations per hour, or 3.5Hz, and is regulated by a free-sprung balance with four masselottes made from copper-beryllium by Atokalpa.

The V5000 also incorporates a dual-anchored balance bridge, KIF Elastor shock protection and anti-loosening screws. Its finishing includes radial Côtes de Genève, polished anglage and micro-perlage, with the movement visible through the sapphire caseback.

The decision to use manual winding is particularly appropriate for the Levius. Without an automatic rotor, the movement can maintain its slim profile while reinforcing the watch’s focus on essential mechanical construction.

A New Chapter For The Redentore

The Redentore Levius brings together two very different ideas of watchmaking. Its Grade 5 titanium case is an exercise in reducing weight and material, while its Zefiro dial relies on a traditional craft that demands time, precision and direct intervention from the artisan.

That contrast is perhaps the most interesting aspect of the watch. The Levius does not treat lightness simply as a technical specification. Instead, it uses weight, texture, finishing and movement architecture to make the concept part of the entire design.

The first 100 pieces are individually numbered on the caseback and form the inaugural series of the Redentore Levius. Priced at €4,750, the watch marks a new direction for Venezianico’s Redentore collection, combining Italian mechanical watchmaking with a distinctly contemporary interpretation of traditional guilloché.
