Unlike most dive watches, which are designed to accompany their owners beneath the waves, the Christopher Ward C60 Pool Diver embraces a different environment altogether: the hotel swimming pool. Combining genuine dive-watch credentials with a healthy dose of satire, the watch reimagines summer holidays as a carefully structured self-improvement program.

A Decompression Diver for Modern Life

At first glance, the Christopher Ward C60 Pool Diver resembles a conventional dive watch. A closer look reveals a much more entertaining story.

The sandblasted white dial is divided into five distinct zones, each prescribing a holiday activity and its ideal duration. These range from “READ” and “SUNBATHE” to “RELAX” and “FLEX”, culminating in the delightfully self-aware instructions “CONTEMPLATE” and “CONSIDER YOUR LIFE CHOICES”.

The white ceramic unidirectional bezel complements these sections with corresponding icons, creating what Christopher Ward describes as the world’s first “decompression diver” designed not for underwater exploration, but for decompressing from everyday life.

seconde/seconde® Humor at Its Finest

The playful nature of the collaboration extends throughout the watch.

Replacing a traditional date aperture, the date display is shaped like a martini glass and humorously indicates the “MAX UNITS PER DAY.” Meanwhile, the closed caseback features the tongue-in-cheek warning “PLEASE, DON’T DRINK AND DIVE,” alongside a custom illustration inspired by the artwork previously seen on the C65 Desk Diver.

Even the helium escape valve receives a unique treatment. While fully functional, it has been laser-etched and lacquer-filled with a tropical island motif, serving as a constant reminder of the vacation mindset the watch celebrates.

Serious Dive Watch Specifications

Despite its humorous presentation, the Christopher Ward C60 Pool Diver remains a fully capable professional dive watch.

The stainless steel case measures 41mm in diameter, 11.45mm thick, and 47.8mm lug-to-lug, offering balanced proportions suitable for a wide variety of wrists. Water resistance is rated at 200 meters, while a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial.

Visibility in low-light conditions is ensured by Super-LumiNova Grade X1 BL C1 applied to the hands and indexes, while the robust construction maintains the performance expected from the C60 collection.

Inside the watch beats the reliable Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement.

This Swiss-made caliber operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz), features 26 jewels, and delivers a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. It also incorporates an anti-shock system and hacking seconds for precise time setting.

Known for its dependability and ease of servicing, the SW200-1 remains one of the most widely respected automatic movements in its category.
