Piaget Andy Warhol Camouflage: A Limited Edition Inspired By Art

A colourful tribute to Warhol’s artistic vision, limited to just 86 pieces.

Inspired by Andy Warhol’s 1986 camouflage self-portraits, the Piaget Andy Warhol Camouflage Limited Edition transforms the artist’s colourful visual language into a three-dimensional dial combining ornamental stones, yellow gold and rose gold. Limited to 86 pieces, this new creation brings together Piaget’s long-standing relationship with Warhol and its expertise in decorative stone marquetry.

Andy Warhol And The Piaget Connection

The Piaget Andy Warhol Camouflage continues a relationship between the Maison and one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Andy Warhol was not only a defining figure in Pop Art but also a passionate watch collector, owning at least seven Piaget timepieces during his lifetime.

Among them was the distinctive reference 15102, a 45 mm cushion-shaped watch designed by Jean-Claude Gueit, Piaget’s artistic director at the time, and produced in small series between 1972 and 1977. Its distinctive gadrooned case would later become closely associated with Warhol and the model now known as the Andy Warhol Watch.

Although the watch received several interpretations over the years, the relationship took a new direction in 2024, when Piaget officially partnered with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. This agreement allowed the Maison to use the artist’s name on the collection and develop new creations inspired by his work.

Following the Andy Warhol Collage edition presented in 2025, Piaget now turns to the artist’s Camouflage self-portraits from 1986. The new limited edition translates their distinctive visual language into a composition that combines colour, material and craftsmanship.

Reinterpreting Warhol’s Camouflage

In his 1986 self-portraits, Warhol explored the relationship between identity and fame through camouflage patterns placed over his own face. The images played with the idea of concealment and recognition, using vivid colours and abstract shapes to create a striking visual contrast.

Rather than reproducing the original artwork directly, Piaget deconstructs its pattern and reinterprets it through the Maison’s own design language. The result is a dial that moves beyond a conventional arrangement of colours, using different materials and surface finishes to create depth and structure.

The composition combines two ornamental stones: sodalite, with its deeper oceanic blue tones, and turquoise, which introduces brighter shades of blue. These are combined with satin-finished yellow gold and polished rose gold, creating a series of contrasting surfaces and reflections.

A total of 27 individual pieces of material form the dial’s marquetry. Their arrangement gives the camouflage pattern an architectural dimension, with the different textures and colours interacting as light moves across the surface.

This approach reflects Piaget’s long-standing relationship with ornamental stones. Since introducing colour and gold into its creations during the early 1960s, the Maison has incorporated a wide range of materials, including lapis lazuli, opal, jade and coral. The use of colour and decorative stones has consequently become an important part of its visual identity.

A Dial Crafted Like A Work Of Art

The dial is the defining feature of this limited edition, and its construction required more than 100 hours of design, research and craftsmanship.

The combination of sodalite, turquoise and two shades of gold creates a composition with both chromatic and textural contrasts. Unlike a flat printed pattern, the different materials introduce variations in surface and reflection, giving the camouflage design a more pronounced three-dimensional character.

The dauphine-style hour and minute hands provide a clean indication of time without competing with the intricate dial. Their shape and polished appearance complement the surrounding materials while allowing the stone marquetry to remain the main focus.

The result is a watch that approaches dial-making as an artistic discipline, translating Warhol’s original imagery into a wearable composition through Piaget’s expertise in gold work and ornamental stone craftsmanship.

The Iconic Cushion-Shaped Case

The watch retains the familiar silhouette of the Andy Warhol collection, with a cushion-shaped case measuring 45 mm in diameter and 43 mm across, with a thickness of 8.08 mm.

For this edition, the case is crafted from 18-carat white gold with a rhodium finish. Its stepped gadroons frame the dial, creating a distinctive architectural profile that connects the new model to the historical reference associated with Warhol.

The recessed crown preserves the clean outline of the case, while the sapphire crystal protects the dial. On the reverse, the solid case back is engraved with Andy Warhol’s signature and the individual number of the limited series.

Water resistance is rated at 30 metres. The watch is presented on a blue alligator leather strap, secured by a pin buckle.

The Piaget 501P1 Automatic Manufacture Calibre

Powering the Andy Warhol Camouflage is Piaget’s in-house automatic calibre 501P1. This movement continues the mechanical configuration used in previous interpretations of the collection and is based on the Maison’s ultra-thin 430P calibre, adapted for automatic winding.

The 501P1 measures 20.8 mm in diameter and just 3.63 mm in thickness. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The movement contains 23 jewels and displays the hours and minutes.

Its slim construction complements the proportions of the cushion-shaped case, while its automatic winding provides everyday practicality without compromising the design’s refined character.

A Limited Edition Of 86 Pieces

The Piaget Andy Warhol Camouflage Limited Edition brings together several defining elements of the Maison: its historical connection with the artist, its distinctive cushion-shaped case and its expertise in working with gold and ornamental stones.

The choice of 86 pieces directly references the year in which Warhol created his camouflage self-portraits. Each watch also carries his signature and an individual edition number on the case back, reinforcing its connection to the artist and the original work.

With its combination of sodalite, turquoise, yellow gold and rose gold, this new edition offers a distinctive interpretation of Warhol’s visual language. More than a simple reproduction of an artwork, it translates the artist’s exploration of colour and identity into a mechanical timepiece shaped by Piaget’s approach to decorative craftsmanship.
