Breitling Brings The Twin Jet Navitimer Back To The Core Collection
The Navitimer B09 Chronograph 41 and B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute revisit two defining chapters of Breitling history with manual-wind movements and the return of the Twin Jet logo.
Breitling is bringing two historically significant Navitimer configurations into its permanent collection with the new Navitimer B09 Chronograph 41 and Navitimer B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute. Both models draw inspiration from the brand’s 1960s designs, combining manual-wind manufacture movements with the familiar circular slide rule and the return of the gold Twin Jet logo.
Although they share the same aviation-inspired origins, the two watches tell different stories. The B09 revisits the classic mechanical chronograph associated with racing drivers and pilots, while the Cosmonaute recalls the moment Breitling adapted the Navitimer for spaceflight.

From The Cockpit To Space
Introduced in 1952, the Navitimer was developed as an instrument for aviators. Its combination of a chronograph and a circular slide rule allowed pilots to perform calculations and measure elapsed time directly from the wrist.
A decade later, Breitling adapted the concept at the request of NASA astronaut Scott Carpenter. The resulting Cosmonaute featured a 24-hour display, allowing the wearer to distinguish the passage of time without relying on the conventional day-and-night cycle.
Carpenter wore the watch during his Mercury-Atlas 7 orbital mission on 24 May 1962. According to Breitling, the Cosmonaute became the first Swiss wristwatch to travel into space. The new B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute continues that legacy with a dedicated 24-hour movement and a discreetly integrated date display.
Navitimer B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute
The Cosmonaute retains the defining 24-hour display that distinguishes it from the standard Navitimer. Its 41mm stainless steel case houses the manually wound Breitling Manufacture Caliber B02, a movement developed specifically for this configuration.

The black dial features contrasting white chronograph counters, while the date is integrated into the lower subdial in a matching colour to preserve the overall symmetry. The gold Twin Jet logo provides a period-correct detail against the monochromatic dial.
The watch is available with a brown gradient calfskin strap and folding clasp, or a seven-row stainless steel bracelet with alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces.
Navitimer B09 Chronograph 41
The Navitimer B09 Chronograph 41 brings the manual-wind B09 calibre into the regular Navitimer collection for the first time. Previously, this movement was reserved for limited editions and commemorative watches.

Inspired by Navitimers associated with racing drivers Jim Clark and Graham Hill, the new model features a 41mm stainless steel case and a reverse-panda dial, with white subdials contrasting against either a black or blue background. The signature circular slide rule remains in place, while the absence of a date display contributes to the watch’s clean, historically inspired proportions.
The black-dial version is paired with a brown gradient calfskin strap, while the blue version comes with a matching blue strap. Both can also be ordered with a seven-row stainless steel bracelet.

Manual-Wind Movements With Modern Performance
Both watches are powered by in-house manual-wind chronograph movements with a column wheel and vertical clutch. Each operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides an approximate power reserve of 70 hours. Both calibres are COSC-certified chronometers.

The B09 calibre comprises 244 components and measures 6.73mm thick, while the B02 calibre comprises 273 components and measures 6.83mm thick. The B02 also supports the Cosmonaute’s distinctive 24-hour display and date indication.

The stainless steel cases measure 41mm in diameter and 13mm in thickness, with a lug-to-lug length of 47.09mm. Both models feature a bidirectional bezel with a circular slide rule, a cambered sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, and a sapphire display caseback. Water resistance is rated at 3 bar, equivalent to 30 metres.
The Return Of The Twin Jet Logo
The gold Twin Jet logo is another defining feature shared by both watches. Introduced by Breitling in 1957, it first appeared on the Navitimer dial in 1965 and became an important part of the collection’s visual identity.
With the B09 Chronograph 41 and B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute, Breitling revisits two distinct expressions of the Navitimer’s heritage while making both permanent members of the core collection rather than reserving them for limited or commemorative releases.
The result is a pair of manual-wind chronographs that connect the original Navitimer’s aviation purpose with the brand’s history in motorsport and spaceflight.
