TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph Oracle Red Bull Racing: Ten Years of Partnership

The partnership between TAG Heuer and Oracle Red Bull Racing began in 2016, bringing together two names united by a shared commitment to precision, innovation and performance. Over the past decade, the collaboration has accompanied the team’s journey through major victories and championship campaigns, with successive timepieces reflecting the relationship between watchmaking and the world of Formula 1.

The new Formula 1 Solargraph celebrates this milestone while looking towards a new generation of watch enthusiasts. It also draws on the heritage of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection, originally introduced in the 1980s with bold designs that brought Swiss watchmaking closer to motorsport culture.

For TAG Heuer, the anniversary represents a continuation of the brand’s Designed to Win philosophy. Béatrice Goasglas, CEO of TAG Heuer, highlighted the significance of the collaboration and the introduction of a 38 mm case combined with Solargraph technology, bringing the energy of the starting grid to a new generation of collectors.

Laurent Mekies, CEO and Team Principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing, also emphasised the shared commitment to innovation, accuracy and the pursuit of excellence that has defined the partnership over the past ten years.

A Blue and Red Dial Inspired by Oracle Red Bull Racing

The watch’s design immediately reflects its connection to the Formula 1 team. A blue sunray-brushed dial is paired with a vivid red flange featuring a 60-second/minute scale, creating a strong contrast inspired by Oracle Red Bull Racing’s familiar colours.

Black lacquered applied indexes and polished black lacquered hour and minute hands provide contrast against the blue background. The indexes and the hour and minute hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova, which emits a green glow in low-light conditions. A yellow lacquered central seconds hand adds another racing-inspired accent.

The date display sits at 3 o’clock and features a yellow date window, providing a distinctive detail against the dial. TAG Heuer branding appears alongside the Formula 1 and Solargraph inscriptions, while the shield-shaped markers at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock reinforce the identity of the collection.

The combination of blue, red, yellow and black gives the watch a strong visual presence without losing sight of its functional purpose. The result remains recognisably part of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 family while establishing a distinct identity for this tenth-anniversary edition.

A 38 mm Sandblasted Steel Case

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph x Oracle Red Bull Racing features a 38 mm stainless steel case with a sandblasted finish. Its matte surface reinforces the watch’s technical appearance, while the case design takes inspiration from the original TAG Heuer Formula 1 models.

A blue bidirectional TH-Polylight bezel surrounds the dial, incorporating a 60-second/minute scale. Its distinctive construction introduces a different texture from the sandblasted steel case, adding depth to the overall design. A flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the dial, while the steel crown is positioned at 3 o’clock.

The watch is fitted with a three-row sandblasted stainless steel bracelet, completed by a folding clasp with double safety push-buttons and an adjustment extension link. The articulated construction is designed to provide a secure fit and adapt comfortably to the wrist.

Water resistance is rated at 100 metres, adding everyday versatility to the motorsport-inspired design.

The anniversary theme continues on the screw-down steel case back, where the Oracle Red Bull Racing logo appears alongside a chequered flag pattern and TAG Heuer branding. The watch is also presented in special packaging featuring the team’s colours and logo.

Solargraph Technology and the TH50-00 Movement

Powering the new Formula 1 is the TAG Heuer TH50-00 Solargraph calibre, a light-powered quartz movement that uses both natural and artificial light as an energy source.

According to TAG Heuer, just one minute of exposure to direct sunlight provides enough energy for a full day of operation. A complete charge can be achieved in less than 40 hours of light exposure, offering up to ten months of autonomy in total darkness.

Even if the watch stops after an extended period without sufficient light, it can restart after just ten seconds of light exposure. The movement’s accumulator is designed to offer a lifespan of up to 15 years.

Solargraph technology reduces the need for conventional battery replacements, offering a practical solution for those who want the convenience of quartz timekeeping without frequent battery changes. With hours, minutes, seconds and date functions, the TH50-00 prioritises straightforward everyday usability while complementing the watch’s racing-inspired design.
