Spinnaker Fleuss 40 Automatic Seconde/Seconde/ 2026 Edition Hides 50 Phantoms

Spinnaker and seconde/seconde/ return for their fourth annual collaboration with two watches that turn the search for fifty hidden phantoms into the central part of the design.

The Spinnaker Fleuss 40 Automatic Seconde/Seconde/ 2026 Edition turns the watch itself into a game of hide-and-seek. For the fourth consecutive annual collaboration between Spinnaker and seconde/seconde/, the two studios introduce a pair of Fleuss 40 models built around a single idea: fifty phantoms are hidden within every watch, and discovering them is left entirely to the owner.

The concept is presented through two contrasting personalities. The CRAZY edition puts its ghosts directly on display, using a colourful multi-layered luminous dial, while the QUIET edition takes the opposite approach, hiding its phantoms beneath a clean matte-white surface and revealing them only under ultraviolet light.

Both watches share the same 40 mm Fleuss case and core construction, making the difference between them primarily a question of how the hidden characters are presented.

Fifty Phantoms To Find

The central idea behind the collaboration is deliberately playful. Rather than simply adding a ghost motif to the dial, Spinnaker and seconde/seconde/ have worked fifty individual phantoms into each watch, turning the act of looking at the watch into part of the experience.

The two editions approach the concept in completely different ways. The CRAZY, reference SP-5195-11A, makes its phantoms visible through a multi-layer construction. Printed and embossed ghosts appear in blue, white, green and yellow, positioned between the base of the dial and the crystal. The entire composition is luminous, making the ghosts even more prominent when the light fades.

The QUIET, reference SP-5195-11B, is considerably more discreet. Its matte-white dial is fitted with applied silver indexes and appears relatively conventional at first glance. The hidden phantoms only emerge when the dial is exposed to ultraviolet light, turning the supplied UV torch into part of the discovery process.

In both cases, the intention is not simply to reveal where the ghosts are located. The owners are encouraged to discover how and where the two studios have hidden them, giving the watch an element of interaction that goes beyond its basic function as a timekeeping instrument.

The Fleuss 40 Case

Both versions use the same 40 mm stainless-steel Fleuss case, with a 47 mm lug-to-lug measurement. The case is paired with a box-shaped sapphire crystal and a screw-down crown, while water resistance reaches 10 ATM.

The unidirectional bezel remains one of the defining elements of the Fleuss design, but receives a particularly appropriate treatment for this collaboration. It is made from polished white ceramic and custom-moulded with a wavy edge intended to echo the hem of a ghost’s robe.

This detail gives the bezel a subtle visual connection to the phantom theme without overwhelming the rest of the case. It also creates a contrast between the polished white ceramic and the stainless-steel construction.

The thickness differs slightly between the two versions. The CRAZY measures 12.15 mm, while the QUIET is 11.8 mm. Both retain the same 20 mm strap width.

A Mechanical Fleuss At Heart

Behind the playful concept remains a mechanical watch built around the established Fleuss platform. Both models use the Japanese Miyota 9 Series automatic movement, with three central hands providing the primary hours, minutes and seconds display.

The movement is visible through an exhibition caseback, giving the mechanical side of the watch a place within the overall presentation. The hands, applied indexes and bezel are all equipped with Swiss Super-LumiNova, ensuring that the watch remains legible when the ambient light disappears.

The result is an interesting contrast between the conventional mechanical architecture of the watch and the unconventional character of the collaboration. Beneath the ghosts, UV effects and sculpted details is still a straightforward automatic Fleuss.

CRAZY: The Ghosts On Display

The CRAZY edition is the more immediately expressive of the two. Its multi-layer white dial uses printed and embossed phantoms in four colours — blue, white, green and yellow — creating several levels between the dial base and sapphire crystal.

Because the dial is fully luminous, the visual effect changes considerably as the lighting conditions change. During the day, the coloured ghosts and layered construction dominate the composition. In darkness, the luminous material brings another dimension to the same design.

The result is intentionally busy and playful, reflecting the CRAZY name while still retaining the basic proportions and architecture of the Fleuss 40.

QUIET: The Ghosts Stay Hidden

The QUIET edition takes the opposite route. Its matte-white dial and applied silver indexes create a much cleaner and more restrained appearance, with the phantom theme largely concealed during normal wear.

The hidden characters only become visible under UV light. This means the watch can appear almost entirely different depending on the lighting used, with the UV torch supplied with the watch acting as a tool for uncovering the concealed design.

The contrast between the two editions is therefore not simply a matter of colour. CRAZY makes the concept immediately visible, while QUIET turns it into something that has to be actively discovered.

Three Straps And A Ghost Display

Both watches are delivered with three different straps. The first is a solid stainless-steel bracelet with a fold-over safety clasp, while the other two are an orange nylon strap and a white silicone strap.

The silicone strap receives an additional detail on the CRAZY edition, with phantom silhouettes cut into the material. This extends the central theme beyond the dial and into the way the watch is worn.

Each watch also comes with a UV torch, reinforcing the interactive nature of the collaboration and making the QUIET’s hidden phantoms accessible to the owner.

For the first time in the Spinnaker and seconde/seconde/ collaboration, the presentation itself becomes part of the concept. The watches arrive with a purpose-built ghost display dome consisting of a glass dome placed over a sculpted EVA-foam ghost, accompanied by a ghost-shaped cleaning cloth.

Two Editions, Two Personalities

The CRAZY is limited to 1,500 individually numbered pieces, while the QUIET is limited to 850 pieces. Both carry a recommended retail price of US$600.

The Spinnaker Fleuss 40 Automatic Seconde/Seconde/ 2026 Edition launches on 16 October 2026, followed by a one-week pre-order period for a second made-to-order production run based on demand.

With its fifty hidden phantoms, two radically different dial treatments and unusually elaborate presentation, this fourth Spinnaker and seconde/seconde/ collaboration continues to treat watchmaking as something that can be playful as well as functional. The mechanical foundation remains familiar, but the real challenge is discovering what has been hiding in plain sight.
