Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Azure Dial Marks 30 Years
An azure dial, an 18K white-gold case and the ultra-thin Calibre 1120 QP/1 mark three decades of the Overseas collection.
Since its introduction in 1996, the Overseas collection has developed around the idea of travel and exploration, combining a sporty architecture with the finishing expected from Vacheron Constantin. To mark its 30th anniversary, the Maison introduces a new interpretation of the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, pairing an 18K white-gold case with a new azure dial for the first time within the collection. Limited to 200 pieces, the watch brings one of Vacheron Constantin’s most complex complications into an exceptionally slim format.

Thirty Years Of The Overseas
The Overseas traces its design language back to the spirit of the 222, introduced in 1977, and to Vacheron Constantin’s earlier sport-chic models. When the Overseas debuted in 1996, it established a more contemporary expression through its distinctive bezel, integrated bracelet and Maltese Cross-inspired links.

The collection has since evolved through several generations, expanding into chronographs, dual-time and world-time watches, as well as increasingly complicated and skeletonised executions. The current generation, introduced in 2016, also brought a practical quick-change strap system, allowing the watches to be adapted between metal, leather and rubber without tools.
The anniversary model continues that philosophy while adding a combination not previously seen in the collection: an azure dial paired with an 18K white-gold case. The result remains recognisably Overseas, but the lighter blue tone gives the perpetual calendar a different visual character.
A New Shade Of Azure
The dial is one of the defining elements of this anniversary edition. Vacheron Constantin describes the new azure as lighter, less intense and less saturated than the deeper blue previously associated with the Overseas. Its appearance changes with the surrounding light, while the lacquered surface creates a sense of depth across the dial.
The moon-phase display follows the same colour palette, creating a tone-on-tone composition. The calendar indications and applied 18K white-gold hour markers provide contrast without disrupting the overall balance, while blue Super-LumiNova accents the hour and minute hands and markers.
The combination is particularly effective on an annual milestone for the collection: instead of changing the architecture of the Overseas, Vacheron Constantin uses colour and precious metal to create a new interpretation of an established design.

Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar
At the centre of the watch is the Manufacture Calibre 1120 QP/1, an ultra-thin self-winding movement measuring only 4.05 mm in thickness. It integrates a complete perpetual calendar with indications for the date, day, month and leap year, together with a moon-phase display.
The perpetual calendar automatically accounts for months with 28, 30 and 31 days as well as leap years, meaning that the calendar requires no correction until 2100. That year is an exception to the normal four-year leap-year cycle because it is not divisible by 400.

Despite its compact dimensions, the movement contains 276 components and 36 jewels. It operates at 2.75 Hz, or 19,800 vibrations per hour, and provides approximately 40 hours of power reserve. The calibre is also certified with the Geneva Seal.
The movement can be viewed through the transparent sapphire caseback, where its finishing becomes part of the watch’s visual identity. Côtes de Genève and bevelled bridges are complemented by perlage on the mainplate and satin finishes on the calendar components. The 22K gold oscillating weight carries an engraved compass rose, reinforcing the exploration theme that has defined the Overseas collection.

8.1mm Of Haute Horlogerie
The movement’s thinness translates directly to the proportions of the watch. The 18K white-gold case measures 41.5 mm in diameter and only 8.1 mm in thickness, creating a relatively restrained profile considering the complexity of the complication inside.

A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while the transparent sapphire caseback provides a view of the Calibre 1120 QP/1. Water resistance is rated at 50 metres.
The watch is delivered with an integrated 18K white-gold bracelet featuring satin-finished and polished links shaped around the Maltese Cross motif. A triple-blade folding clasp provides the closure and incorporates an adjustment system.
True to the current Overseas philosophy, the watch also comes with two textured rubber straps, one white and one denim blue. Both can be changed without tools, with interchangeable 18K white-gold pin buckles completing the strap options.

A Limited Anniversary Edition
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Azure is limited to 200 individually engraved and numbered pieces. Its significance therefore lies not only in the anniversary it marks, but also in the particular combination of materials and colour introduced for the occasion.
The 30th anniversary of the Overseas brings together three elements that define the collection’s current identity: a travel-oriented design, a practical interchangeable strap system and a high-complication movement housed within a remarkably thin case. In this edition, the new azure dial and 18K white-gold case give that formula a more refined interpretation while retaining the architectural character of the Overseas.
