Oris x Cervo Volante Brings Autumn To The Big Crown Pointer Date
A deep burgundy edition of the Big Crown Pointer Date pairs Oris’ historic design with sustainable deer leather from Swiss company Cervo Volante.
As autumn approaches the Waldenburg Valley surrounding Oris’ home in Hölstein, the changing colours of the forest provide the backdrop for the latest collaboration between Oris and Swiss leather company Cervo Volante.
The new Oris x Cervo Volante brings the partnership back to the Big Crown Pointer Date, one of Oris’ most recognisable designs. First introduced in 1938 and still part of the brand’s collection today, the model combines a fluted bezel, oversized crown and its distinctive pointer-date display. For this special edition, those familiar elements are presented in a deep burgundy colourway, accompanied by a brown strap made from Cervo Volante sustainable deer leather.

From The Swiss Mountains To The Wrist
Cervo Volante was founded in 2017 by two female entrepreneurs with backgrounds in biotechnology and wildlife management. The company works with deer leather sourced in the Swiss mountains, using skins that result from Switzerland’s regulated management of the country’s deer population.
Rather than allowing these hides to go to waste, Cervo Volante gives them a second life as footwear and accessories. The leather is naturally treated in one of Switzerland’s remaining vegetable tanneries, while natural imperfections are deliberately retained rather than removed.
That approach gives the material a character that is different from more uniform forms of leather. On the new Oris, the connection to Cervo Volante is expressed through the brown deer-leather strap, which is fitted with a quick strap change system and gives the watch a distinctly autumnal character.
Each watch also comes with a travel pouch made from the same sustainable deer leather.

The Big Crown Pointer Date In Burgundy
The foundation of the collaboration is the 40mm Big Crown Pointer Date. Its multi-piece stainless-steel case measures 12.2mm thick and 48.2mm from lug to lug, with a 20mm lug width.
The familiar architecture remains intact. A fluted bezel surrounds the domed sapphire crystal, while the oversized screw-in security crown reinforces the identity that has long defined the Big Crown Pointer Date.
The burgundy dial gives the watch its strongest visual change. Printed indices and numerals are paired with Super-LumiNova on the indices, numbers and hands, maintaining the legibility expected from the model while introducing a warmer palette suited to the season that inspired it.
At the centre, the signature pointer-date hand travels around the outer scale to indicate the date, preserving one of the defining features of the Big Crown Pointer Date.

Oris Calibre 754
Inside the case is Oris Calibre 754, an automatic Swiss Made movement measuring 25.60mm in diameter and 11½ lignes.
The calibre operates at 4Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour, and provides a power reserve of 41 hours. It contains 26 jewels and incorporates central hour, minute and seconds hands alongside the central pointer-date indication.
The date mechanism offers an instantaneous date change, while the movement also includes a date corrector, fine timing device and stop-seconds function.
At the rear, the screwed stainless-steel caseback incorporates a see-through mineral glass window, allowing a view of the movement while maintaining the practical character of the watch.

An Autumn Edition With A Familiar Identity
The Oris x Cervo Volante does not attempt to redesign the Big Crown Pointer Date. Instead, it uses colour and material to place the established model in a different environment.
The burgundy dial reflects the autumn hues of the forests around Hölstein, while the sustainable deer-leather strap connects the watch directly to Cervo Volante and its work with locally sourced Swiss deer hides.
Available from September 2026, the special edition is priced at CHF 2,250 and is delivered with a matching Cervo Volante deer-leather travel pouch.
