Casio F-B100W-1A Brings The Classic Digital Watch Into The Connected Era

A familiar Casio digital silhouette returns with Bluetooth connectivity, step tracking and a lighter, more contemporary approach to everyday wear.

The Casio F-B100W-1A takes one of the most recognisable ideas in Casio’s digital watch history and updates it for modern daily life. Its design draws directly from the classic digital watches that have remained a reference point since the 1980s, retaining the angular case, large LCD display and straightforward proportions associated with that era.

The difference is found beneath the familiar appearance. The F-B100W-1A adds Bluetooth connectivity, automatic time adjustment, smartphone configuration and an integrated step counter, bringing functions that would have been impossible to associate with a classic digital Casio several decades ago.

26 Grams And 8.8mm

The new model has been developed around lightweight everyday comfort. Its resin case measures 41.9 × 38.1 × 8.8mm and the watch weighs just 26 grams, making it particularly discreet on the wrist.

The resin bracelet follows the visual language of the F-91W on its exterior, while openings on the underside are designed to improve air circulation and comfort during prolonged wear. The bracelet is made from bio-based resin, as are the main resin components used for the case and bezel.

The result remains unmistakably Casio, but the construction is adapted to a more active, connected lifestyle.

Step Tracking Built Into A Digital Classic

An integrated accelerometer detects body movement and automatically counts steps throughout the day. The LCD display provides the current daily total and can also show progress towards a user-defined step goal through a graphic.

The target can be set between 1,000 and 50,000 steps in increments of 1,000. A step reminder can also notify the wearer when activity levels are too low, while an hourly step graph records activity from the previous seven hours.

The watch also includes a 1/100-second stopwatch, with enough memory to store up to 200 lap or split-time records. A countdown timer, five daily alarms and an hourly time signal extend the practical side of the package.

Bluetooth And The Casio Watches App

The F-B100W-1A connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth and the dedicated CASIO WATCHES application. Once paired, the watch can automatically correct the time and simplify the configuration of several functions.

The connection also allows step counts and other recorded information to be transferred to the smartphone. The application can retain time and location data, creating a longer-term record of the wearer’s activity.

Other connected functions include world time for approximately 300 cities, easy watch configuration and a phone finder.

Classic LCD, Modern Illumination

Despite the additional technology, the display remains firmly rooted in Casio’s digital watch language. The LCD provides the regular time display together with information such as the date, day and year, while a full automatic calendar runs through 2099.

For low-light conditions, an LED backlight illuminates the entire LCD display. The illumination duration can be selected between 1.5 and 3 seconds, with a green LED used for the backlight.

Battery life remains straightforward as well, with the CR2016 battery providing approximately two years of operation. Without Mobile Link, the stated accuracy is ±15 seconds per month.

A Digital Classic With A New Purpose

The F-B100W-1A does not abandon the simplicity that made Casio’s classic digital watches so recognisable. Instead, it places that familiar design around a considerably broader set of functions, from step tracking and smartphone connectivity to world time and activity records.

With its 41.9mm case, 8.8mm thickness and 26-gram weight, the new F-100 Series model remains focused on comfort and accessibility. At €59.90 including VAT, it also brings connected functionality into a format that stays close to the accessible character of Casio’s traditional digital watches.
