NOMOS Glashütte Twice Unique: 9 Artistic Dial Concepts

A new creative format transforms five iconic NOMOS models into unique pairs in steel and gold.

The NOMOS Glashütte Twice Unique collection introduces one of the most original concepts of Watches and Wonders 2026. Rather than launching a standard limited edition, NOMOS created a format where five of its classic watch models become canvases for artistic experimentation.

Each model is produced in two versions: one in stainless steel and one in 18kt gold. But there is a twist. Only a single pair of each design exists, sold together as an inseparable duo. Every watch is engraved 1/1, making each one completely unique.

The launch series explores nine different artistic dial techniques across five iconic NOMOS models presented in steel and gold.

A New Creative Direction for NOMOS

With Twice Unique, NOMOS asks a simple question: what if a watch dial could be anything?

The answer comes through a series of highly imaginative dials exploring colour, texture and artisanal technique. Some were developed entirely in-house, while others involved respected artists and master craftsmen.

This project reflects a side of NOMOS rarely seen at scale: artistic freedom combined with German precision and restrained design.

Five Iconic NOMOS Models, Interpreted Twice

The foundation of Twice Unique is built around five familiar NOMOS references: Tetra 27, Tangente 33, Ludwig, Orion neomatik, and Tangente neomatik 38 Update.

Each is created once in stainless steel and once in 18kt gold, with the same artistic concept taking on a different personality depending on the case material. The result allows collectors to experience two interpretations of the same watch: one more discreet and contemporary, the other warmer and more luxurious. Across the launch collection, NOMOS introduces nine distinct creative executions focused on colour, texture and artisanal craftsmanship.

1966

The 1966 dial theme draws on the floral textile designs of Anna Diederichs created in Paris during the 1960s. Reproduced through a four-colour pad-printing process, it brings vibrant vintage energy and graphic softness to the collection. In the official presentation, this execution was shown on the Tetra 27, where the square case amplifies its bold artistic character.

Scribble & Scribble Dark

The Scribble dials appear spontaneous but are methodically engraved by Saskia Licina, an award-winning jewellery designer and master goldsmith. Their energetic hand-drawn lines are executed with remarkable precision despite the freeform aesthetic. While one version offers a brighter and more playful expression, Scribble Dark introduces a bolder and more architectural tone, giving the same artistic concept two distinct personalities.

Now

Now showcases mirror-polished dials produced through polish lapping, a meticulous hand-finished process requiring several hours for each piece. Three different abrasive compounds are used to achieve an ultra-fine surface with a roughness of around one micron. A soft matte lacquer is then applied, preserving the dial’s calm, reflective and understated character.

Rive Gauche

Rive Gauche is inspired by Anna Diederichs’ original sketches and watercolours, translating expressive textile-style patterns into watchmaking form. Using multi-colour printing techniques, it delivers a bold and artistic composition rich in movement and colour.

Moiré

Moiré represents the first guilloché dial created by NOMOS Glashütte. Finely engraved patterns generate shifting optical effects under changing light, creating depth, rhythm and a dynamic visual texture.

Auric

Auric showcases traditional hand-gilding, a rare decorative craft using delicate gold leaf applied by hand. The surface glows softly rather than reflecting sharply, creating warmth, richness and a subtle sense of depth.

Driftwork

Driftwork uses a frosted dial finish inspired by historical pre-industrial decorative techniques. The textured surface gives the dial a handcrafted appearance while creating a refined contrast with the printed typography and hands.

Urania

Named after the muse of astronomy, Urania features silver stars scattered across a dark blue dial using an ultra-fine brush. Selected stars are coated with luminous material, creating the impression of a calm and silent night sky.

Why Twice Unique Matters

Luxury watchmaking often speaks about exclusivity through limited editions of 50 or 100 pieces. NOMOS has taken a different path. Here, every watch exists only once. There are no repeats, no future reissues, and no separate sales. Each pair remains linked forever. That makes Twice Unique not only creative, but conceptually powerful. It turns ownership into something closer to collecting art than buying a watch.

Mechanical Substance Remains

Despite the artistic focus, these are still true NOMOS watches powered by the brand’s in-house calibres. Models such as the Tangente neomatik 38 Update use the DUW 6101 automatic movement, while other references continue to feature the clean architecture and reliable engineering for which NOMOS is known. The visual experimentation never replaces watchmaking quality.

Final Thoughts

The NOMOS Glashütte Twice Unique collection is one of the smartest and most creative launches of Watches and Wonders 2026. Instead of chasing complications or larger production numbers, NOMOS focuses on originality, craftsmanship and artistic individuality.

For collectors who value design as much as mechanics, Twice Unique may become one of the most memorable releases of the year.
