David Candaux DC6 Night Forest – Lightweight Tourbillon Design With Only 45g

Two materials. One design. Nothing superfluous.

David Candaux DC6 Night Forest is a bold expression of contemporary independent watchmaking from David Candaux. Combining UD carbon and natural titanium, this ultra-light timepiece weighs just 45 grams and is produced in a limited edition of eight pieces.

From Forged Carbon to UD Carbon

After an initial version in forged carbon, Candaux turned to unidirectional (UD) carbon, a more advanced and durable material. Unlike forged carbon, which relies on fragmented fibers and resin, UD carbon uses continuous aligned fibers, offering greater strength, resistance, and structural integrity.

Architecture: Titanium Meets Carbon

The movement is housed in a titanium core ensuring water resistance, while the exterior structure is crafted from UD carbon. The entire case is assembled mechanically, without adhesives.

With a 45 mm diameter and only 45 grams, the DC6 Night Forest is both robust and exceptionally lightweight.

Black Titanium: A True Transformation

Instead of coatings, the deep black tone of the tourbillon cage is achieved through micro-arc oxidation, transforming the titanium surface into a durable ceramic layer.

This process ensures long-term stability, with no risk of fading or peeling over time.

The Dial: Smoky Topaz Green

The domed dial features a sunburst finish and a distinctive topaz green tone achieved through anodization. A translucent black layer creates a smoky visual effect, adding depth and contrast.

Applied numerals and indexes appear suspended within the dial, enhancing its three-dimensional character.

A Unique Sensory Experience

The DC6 Night Forest is designed to be experienced through touch as well as sight:

  • Titanium: cool and precise
  • UD Carbon: warm and textured
  • Guilloché: tactile craftsmanship
  • Sapphire: visual depth

The H74 Calibre

Developed entirely in-house in Le Solliat, the H74 calibre features:

  • Flying tourbillon inclined at 30°
  • 55-hour power reserve
  • Titanium bridges and mainplate
  • Hand-finished haute horlogerie details

This architecture improves chronometric performance while maintaining visual complexity.

The “Magic Crown”

Positioned at 6 o’clock, the patented Magic Crown replaces the traditional crown. Inspired by retractable mechanisms, it offers three positions: winding, time-setting, and neutral.

Contemporary and Essential

Borrowing materials from aerospace and Formula 1, the DC6 Night Forest combines performance with elegance. At the same time, the natural veining of UD carbon evokes organic textures, linking the watch to nature.
