As the central minute hand completes its journey around the dial, a precisely controlled sequence causes one piston to rotate while another returns to its resting position, revealing the current hour.
The effect resembles the synchronized movement of engine pistons under acceleration, creating a constantly evolving display that transforms the simple act of reading the time into a visual spectacle.
Developed in collaboration with La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the mechanism is based on the celebrated Spin Time concept while being extensively reworked to suit TAG Heuer’s motorsport-inspired vision.

The Monaco Speed 12 is housed in a 40mm Grade 5 titanium case that balances lightweight construction with exceptional rigidity.
The familiar square Monaco architecture remains instantly recognizable, yet this execution introduces an even more technical appearance. Open-worked DLC-coated arches suspend the movement within the case, creating a striking sense of depth and transparency.
A sapphire bezel and domed sapphire crystal provide unobstructed views of the rotating hour pistons from virtually every angle, while the open-worked dial reveals a movement architecture inspired by the mechanical precision of high-performance engines.
The central section of the dial features vertical grooves reminiscent of modern engine covers, while the skeletonized minute hand echoes the instruments found on racing dashboards.
Calibre TH84-00 Brings The Concept To Life
Powering the Monaco Speed 12 is the automatic Calibre TH84-00, developed and manufactured by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.
The movement reinterprets the Spin Time mechanism originally created by master watchmakers Michel Navas and Enrico Barbasini, transforming it into a display inspired by twelve-cylinder engine dynamics.
Every rotation of the minute hand triggers a carefully orchestrated sequence among the twelve piston-shaped hour indicators, creating a display that is as mechanically engaging as it is visually distinctive.
Beyond its technical complexity, the movement benefits from a high level of finishing that complements the avant-garde aesthetic of the watch.

The TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12 will be limited to just 50 individually numbered examples. Deliveries are expected to begin in December 2026. Pricing is set at CHF 70,000 in Switzerland, €77,000 in Europe, £66,000 in the United Kingdom, and US$87,000 in North America.
